Why should you, I, our families,
friends, and neighbors
vote for Ben Swan?
Ben, who was a mail carrier after three years of active Army duty and five
years reserve duty, spent most of his adult life fighting for civil rights, human
rights, and justice for us all. He is an activist who became a politician
out of necessity; to be most effective. He has a solid commitment
to do right by us common folks. Some of his colleagues in Boston
refer to him as the conscience of the House.
Ben also realizes that our
entrepreneurs and business leaders are crucial to the good health of the district,
the city, surrounding communities, and the Commonwealth as a whole.
As such, he is actively involved in the support of existing and development
of new businesses.
Ben brings to the office a
substantial intellect, a historical perspective unmatched by anyone, familiarity
with other officials and community leaders, and wisdom beyond his years.
Ben has lifelong experience in both public and private community service.
Ben has real integrity. He's
from the old school. He honestly says what he means and means what
he says. He is truly a man of his word. Unlike some others,
he will not simply tell you what he thinks you might want to hear.
In addition, Ben and his campaign committee have not and will not stoop
to running a dirty campaign.
Real influence takes time to build. Ben has worked
diligently to bring millions of dollars home to the district. For example,
when serving on the Transportation Committee Ben was instrumental in securing funds to improve many area roads and bridges.
He does now or has served as a member of
the following committees:
- HOUSE COMMITTEE ON POST AUDIT AND OVERSIGHT (Vice-Chair)
- HOUSE COMMITTEE ON WAYS AND MEANS
- JOINT COMMITTEE ON WAYS AND MEANS (negotiations between
House and Senate)
- JOINT COMMITTEE ON HEALTH CARE FINANCING
- HOUSE COMMITTEE ON STEARING, POLICY, AND
- HOUSE COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION
- HOUSE COMMITTEE ON STATE ADMINISTRATION
- HOUSE COMMITTEE ON BONDING, CAPITAL EXPENDITURES, AND STATE ASSETS (Vice-Chair)
- HOUSE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY
- HOUSE COMMITTEE ON TAXATION
new representative would not be so experienced and put the district back at
square-one in terms of influence in Boston.
Ben's voice carries; simple but
true. It is strong and deep. When he speaks on the floor or in
committee people listen and can hear him. And isn't being heard and
understood the first and most important step toward influencing your colleagues?
One thing Ben doesn't like to do is
brag about himself. He is a man of humility. He will respond
fully, of course, when asked of his accomplishments or for his opinion,
but he doesn't commonly toot his own horn. His reward is realized
in the countless "thanks", awards, and accolades he receives from the folks
he has helped and continues to help every day.
But it's election time. So
we, the Committee to Re-elect Ben Swan, are asking you to seek out all
the information you need (Call the office or research the public record).
We are sure that you will be convinced
that Ben continues to be our best choice for State Representative.
Please, make sure that you, your family, friends, and neighbors vote to send
Ben back to Boston.
